crap I tried the battery jumper thnng now when it boots up it goes cmos checksum error defaults loaded press f1 to continue but I cant because nothing works

I think it's supposed to give you that message, so resetting the was succesfulll and it's now set to the default values.

I'm starting to think that the mobo is busted. Since it doesn't work before going to windows that kinda eliminates the possibility of it being a software/OS based problem. And since resetting the bios didn't work it isn't a problem in the bios either.

Not even pure USB keyboard work? Hmm, there seems to be a problem with the onboard mouse/keyboard controller. Yes, somewhere, they sell those, but good luck to find one.

quick question, when you removed that small jumper, did you turn the mach back on without it in?

no the battery and jumper were both in when it was turned back on
