Default Memory Leak?

I think I have a memory leak or some other RAM problem on my laptop. It is running Ubuntu 9.1 and has 1 gig of RAM. I think there is a problem because all I'm doing right now is posting this thread and my RAM is at 99% (55% used by programs, 44% by the cache). Is there a way I can fix this without buying more RAM?

From what I understand, a memory leak is a programming error, not hardware

How do I go about doing that? I don't know much about tweaking RAM.

swap is a partition on your hard drive.

How big is your current one?

Hmmm... then there is an issue with the OS.

How much swap is being utilized?
