Default Memory Comparison

I'm looking to updgrade my pc and I have a big question ...

Which of these ram sticks would be better paired with an Intel Q9550 and a 1600mhz fsb motherboard:

OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3

Is it really worth to get ddr3? Considering that I'm going to buy a new board and all?

Intel i7 920 | Thermalright 120 eXtreme / Foxconn Bloodrage x58 / OCZ 6GB DDR3 1600 / BFG GTX 260 OCX MaxCore / Xigmatek 750W Modular / Seagate 250GB 7200.10 / Lian Li PC-V1010B / ViewSonic VX2035WM 20"

personally, i dont think DDR3 is worth it yet.
I will go with DDR2 for now till like when DDR2 becomes DDR where it would cost more than DDR3.
i never went with OCZ before, i only went with Corsair XMS2 series, and they are great.

if you're not gonna OC, then 800mhz memory (DDR2 6400) will do the job and your FSB and memory will run at the desired 1:1 ratio, if you're planning on OCing, get the Corsair...

As of now, I say go with the DDR2. It's a battle of Latency vs. Bandwidth. Since DDR2 is matured and DDR3 is not at all, DDR2 wins more battles than it loses. Therefore, as of now, its best to go with DDR2.

This same transition came with DDR vs DDR2. As the newer technology evolves and matures, it'll takeover the previous technology.

Again, as of now...DDR2, in a 5 months or so, DDR3.
