Default Memory

I'd just like to point out how much of an annoyance it is that memory prices have gone down by half in just under a year! That's unbelievable ..

So anyway, I was thinking of buying an additional gb of memory, thinking it'd cost me around 80 (sorry for currency) @ 800Mhz, dual channel. It is actually 50 .. they're also doing 2gb (1x2) dual channel @ same speeds for 70 (as an offer for that week) and the other offer being 2gb (1x2) @ 8500c5 (1000MHz) for 100 .. which is pretty decent.

My current memory is the one I was aiming to get at the start .. however would it be much advisable to get one of the offers? 3gb isn't really necessary is it? If so, which of the offers to get? They're both the same except one @ 800MHz and the oter @ 1000MHz, dual.

If I got the 1000MHz one, wouldn't it slow itself down to 800MHz simply because of the already installed 800Mhz one?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
