Well now that I know what needs to be done, I'm gunna' buy myself a new box. What should I get? I will be using it for mainly surfing the net and also playing the odd video. Middle of the range gear is what I am looking at.

try searching newegg.com/ they have a lot of good cheap stuff.

512MB DDR RAM
52 Speed CDROM
DVD Burner
1.44MB 3.5" Floppy Disk Drive
Parallel & Serial Ports
Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2
