Hey,

I have limited resources out here because I'm in Iraq right now... But a buddy of mine's Maxtor External died on him. It was working fine, then he plugged it into someone else's computer with Vista (not sure what my buddy has) and the HDD would show up but when tried to access it, it says it's corupt. So he put it back on his computer and now it says the same thing, it does this on every computer.

So what are the possible answers here? Is there any way to save his 30GB of music on there? Out here in Iraq music is a motivator, he really needs that lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

IMO, it looks like it's all gone. What I'd try is to open the external device, and put the hard drive in a PC. If it does show up but Windows wants it formtted, try a reinstall and then you should have your drive. It could be the external composite being corrupted, and not the drive itself.

Goto disk management and see what its saying about the current drive state.

You also have the option of using recovery software to get the data back, i personally use getdataback, and its never let me down yet.
