Default Maximizing SATA

allo everyone.

im trying to study up on sata so a few questions.

i have the ASUS p4pe with p4 2.4. my ultimate mission started out with trying to silence my PC, its probably the loudest pc on the block. after searching for some "quiet" hard drives" i saw some things about samsungs quiet SATA drives.

so now im trying to figure out a few things about sata.

first, i know my p4pe supports up to 2 sata drives. at the same time, i read that only motherboards with chipsets 865+ have sata architecture fully built in and are the only ones that support the full 150mb/s bandwidth, is this true?

and what is the fastest speed (Mb/s) an IDE drive can go on my mobo? is it 133 mb/s, so is SATA worth the 17mb/s increase?

and what about SATA II, when will motherboards and hard drives that support that make its way.....cause i don't want to start upgrading if those are just around the block....

ok, thats all for now, any help would be appreciated.
