Hello! Im new here and id like to have some help from some experience ppl...

I got this problem, after about 1h of using my computer the system slows down, my firewall goes "error dns" or something (its not my firewall cause it happends when i turn it off too), my net stops working and even when i pres ctrl alt delete i got a msn "Could not initiate the program correctly 0xc0000017" and i got to reset my computer to get it all working again.

In other words:

symptom: internet lost connection, not able to play mp3, video files, firefox/ie not responding

when i ctrl+alt+del to prompt task manager, is shows "The application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000017" instead of task manager. and all icons and startup bar went missing after that.

restarting com helps but after a while it happens again.

It seems that you might have a nasty virus/spyware or whatnot. I would do a virus scan and download ad-aware and do a scan for spyware and adware.

Please provide some more info. what Operating system are you using? What is the brand? Any other specific errors?

Well, i did some research about this 0xc0000017 error and it appears to have something to do with virtual memory or whatever. I scanned my computer with antiviruses and anti spyware and i didnt find anything.

Im running on a amd athlon 64 3000 2gig ram win xp proffesional geforce 9800

Please help!!!

Well i did some additional research and i found out that i should check my task manager BEFORE the error accours and check if i have any unnormal activity over there, but the problem is i dont reallly know where the border goes between upnormal and normal, so il just write the 3 most biggest memmory users right now right here and u be the judge.

svchost.exe 25k kb
iexplore.exe 64k kb
iexplore.exe 76k kb

are these values normal, are there supose to be 2x iexplore?

and here come my hijackthis (i really have no idea how to read this ;o)

bump.. cmon folkes... this is causing i cant use my pc for more then 20 mins!

Try this:
Go to Start->run-> type "msconfig" with out the quotes.
Then, go to the startup tab.
uncheck anything that you dont need, any programs that are not needed by your computer to start. If you don't know what some are, just post them.
After you uncheck some items, reboot you computer. See what happens.

well, i did what u said stiffler and i found the basics, avast, some strange (but system) processes like RUNDLL and NvMCtray but nothing special really, the only things i unchecked were 3 lines (all about some logitech shit, prolly about my webcam)

what now? ;o maybe i should post the values from my virtual memory thingy or whatever?

Virtual memory is on the hard drive (it's the paging file). So I would run check disk (in command prompt type chkdsk /r) and let it run through, and run memtest just to be safe.

Alright celegorm il try that!

Ran memtest in 10 hours, no error. Went on with check disk. Now il wait and see if the problem still here
