If it is a wireless mouse, check where your transmitter is. mine fell behind my desk once and did the wildest things because the signal was in and out. Batteries can have this effect. If it is just an optical wired mouse, check for dirt/dust or other junk that got clogged. If it is a ball mouse...get a new mouse.
