Major CPU Question

ok i have a certain amount of money to spend on a CPU so dont suggest anything else iv already summed up that these are the best i want to go with.

I have to decide between!!:

Pentium4 3.0GHz

and

AMD Athlon64 3000+

ok please dont suggest any other because these are the ones im making a decision between!!

PS: this is to design a family computer for a friend of mine so for what he wants these processors are strong enough now!

I would go with the AMD 64. But thats just my opinion

I would go with the AMD also, I've used both AMD and Intel, and in my opinion AMD outperforms Intel.
