Lost internet connection

Hi,
I recently bought a refurb Acer Laptop. I bought the AVG (grisoft) internet suite for protection. I removed the Norton that was on it and now have the AVG only.
Problem is now I can't get a connection from my router via cable or WIFI.

Any suggestions?
