Default Lost hard drive space!!!!!!!

I just reloaded windows onto of the old one without re formatting! I didnt select the repair one but opted for the clean install, unfortunetly i didnt delete what was already there and now most of my available space has been taken up with old files which arn;t visible..Can this space be retrieved or do i have to reload windows again but this time reformating first? If so can anyone point me in the right direction for undertaking this, perhaps a link to explaining it clearly , thanks.

sounds like you have 2 xp installs on 1 partition. messy job. you might have to set the permissons so you can delete all the old system files and docs and stuff. it personally start again from scratch if you can. nice n clean then

Yeah, just start over and format the hard drive when you go to install Windows. Not just a quick format either.
