Default Looking for a processor upgrade...

Well the motherboard I have in my system right now is a Gigabyte i-DNA Series, Intel 945P Express (LGA775 for Pentium D) The box for the MoBo says that is can use Dual Core, now I was just wondering if someone could offer some help into what DualCores I can look for and be compatibile with this MoBo.

Other specs:
1024 mb dual channel DDR2
200 gb sata 2
ATI Radeon x1600 256MB PCIe

If anyone can leave some suggestions to what I need to look for in a dual core, that would be awesome, thanks.

Do you know if it can support Core 2 Duo, or just Pentium D?

All I know for sure is that on the box along the front bottom is says that it supports Pentium D and has a sticker for Dual Core beside the dual channel ram sticker.

My budget really depends on what I can get for the setup I have now, if there are a couple choices I'd want to shop them, read up on them and then see how much I am willing to spend. No specific budget as of yet, I am really looking for compatibility first.
