Re: ATI or Nvidia?

I'm thinking of going with a new card and not sure which on to go with.

Core 2 Quad Procesor 2.66 GHz

6 Gigs of Ram

635 Watt Power Supply

Current video card is a Nvidia 9500GS.

Vista Home Premium 64 Bit edition.

Looking for a new card that has HD capabilities and need help on which one I should go with. I appreciate if anyone can assist me.

Which one is the better upgrade? Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

The 5670's aren't bad cards. Not real gamers though. The HD 4850 is the best performing of the ones you listed.

The thing is I'm scoping out cards for my dad as he isn't very Computer savy. This is the budget he gave me.

I'm actually disappointed with the 4850 that you need an adapter for a HDMI cable. When I saw the S-Video port I cringed.

How significant of an upgrade is the card compared to mine?

What about these Nvidia cards?

Immensely better, at least on the order of 50% greater performance. The 4850 is on-par with the GTS 250, so both are relatively comparable. I own the 4850 and it is a very good card for the price. What do you have against s-video?

I want true HD from my HDTV HDMI is better than S-Video.

I may stay with Nvidia. Should I try to find a card with 1 Gig of Video Memory?
