Looking at a new build

hmmm...i doubt you'll future proof ur pc with only ram

First off that ram is only ddr2 800. IF we (but i doubt) consider 8 gig ram the norm in 4-5 years, it would most likely be ddr3 (2000 <--overestimating??) ram.

Also you cpu is already a year old. Its based on 65nm tech. You'll most likely upgrade that to a newer core 2 quad before the ram. Or even an i7, which would also require you to upgrade your mobo AND your ram.

Before upgrading that even, you have a 7600 gpu which imo also needs to be updated.

so yea, i would just drop the 8 gigs, and spend a little more on a better quad or spend a little less on a good dual and get like a better gpu.

I'm not building a gaming computer. I really only play css, which always getting 80+ frame rate is good. Other then that, I only have it so I can support my screen resolution and dual monitors. I'm considering a third monitor so I might be doing dual video cards. Thats a completely different thought I havent decided on yet.

Good point about the ram and CPU. Link me to what you would do.

Your case is a little....pricey. I have no links but find something at your preference in the $40 to $60 range leaving you like $80 more.

Ram- i tried to find mine which i got for $25 but its now $57 :(

But here is an alternative

For the same price and only 700mhz slower newer generation cpu (you said you are only playing css, idk why you would need a quad core)

Or amazing dual

cheaper but still amazing

even cheaper, but still same architecture and still very amazing

What about the processor and a compatible motherboard and dd3 ram?

....wow it has been a while for me

I was asking you to find what you would use. That is 64 bit, dd3 and a mobo compatible with both.

ddr3 mobos are still a little pricy for my blood rite now as is ddr3 ram. If you are going to spend $ to upgrade both you mite as well go with an i7 build. If not stick with the ep45 ud3r mobo and the suggested ram

as for os, it doesn't really matter. If you buy 32 its same as 64 and if you buy 32 and want 64 microsoft will send a free copy of 64 if you ever decide to upgrade. unless you want to run hardware from the stone ages, i would get 64

Man forget it that I7 stuff is spendy. Maybe I will hold off on this to do some I7 stuff.

Hmmm...... research research research.
