hey im a computer idiot lol. i want to learn more about computers so i can build my own in a few months. some things i want to learn more about are overclocking, the diffrences between ram, virtual memory, what are pros and cons between dual core and quad core prossesors, and whats the better os xp or vista?, those are just a few things can anyone tell me where to look or perhaps give me a few links?

ram= random access memory
virtual mem= space from your HDD that has been designated for short term memory

vista will have more support
and XP has stopped being produced...... i think
so there wont be any more upgrades

dual= 2 cores
quad= 4 cores

the more cores the more volume of information that they can process
the speed of the cores (in Ghz [while they seem low] is for each core)
so dont just look at them and go :(
when it comes to multiple cores you can look at it like this
instead of having a 4" pipe ('traditional' single core [tradition is being broken by technology])
a dual core has two 4" pipes to deliver the info and a quad has four

only you can make the best choices for your purpose

When i first joined i was pretty much a n00b,but by reading (Computer Magazines and this forum) and doing research on google,i now own a computer business :D

It all takes time my friend.
