Looking at getting better replacement Core 2 Duo for my Laptop - Reccomendations?

Hi,

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilio Li1718 laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5300, which has a clock speed of 1.73Ghz. As the laptop is quite slow and going out of warranty soon in a few months, I am thinking about upgrading it to a newer core 2 duo as I know it is possible.
What sort of Core 2 Duo would you think is best for under £150 and is compatiable with the motherboard chipset? I would like to see some speed increase.

Meh, you cant really replace the CPU.
It would either not work or kill your battery.

Have you cleaned your registry?

Yes I have cleaned it numerous times - no improvement.
As far as I knew it is possible to replace the cpu ona laptop if you can access it.

It is possible, You just need to make sure the socket is the same as your current one. Which with the Intel C2D T series, they should all be the same.

Which C2D do you think would be best for less than £120?
Will it matter that my motherboard has the older chipset in it?

The T7250 looks quite good - 2 ghz £70

Be careful. There are a lot of laptops that will not boot if you have a different CPU in them.
Google your model and see what others have said.
