Perhaps it's better to wait some 64 bit software to do a full upgrade to Longhorn 64...

yeah i would definately wait. I'm not even sure if most of the new games will run on a g4 system. When software comes compatible standard and all my drivers i'll change

Yea I heard about it. But frankly XP is fine for me.My new comp will support 64 bit so that won't even be a issue. BUt 65 % resource heavy O SHIT. Thats a lot.

I am getting it in order to fully realize the speeds of the AthlonX2 I have, since it will support dual core and 64bit fully. It is also x86 backwards compatible, so it will support other processors such as the odd Opterons that had to use Linux and Unix up until now. So, my verdict, YES TO LONGHORN. Just hoping Microsoft doesn't foul this up...

There will be plenty of 64 bit applications out. Microsoft owns the market all of the companies will start to produce. Plus XP x64 is out so some companies are getting the jump from that.

what is the difference between xp and the xp64 edition?
I figured one just hogs more resources than it really needs to just because it can... lol

Make a 180 degree turn and your right. It is better for programs. Because it allows for more virtual memory and other things it allows applications to run faster.

Longhorn scraped the "Sidebar" from 5048 and later builds. I hope it remains that way as to give us more workspace on the Desktop. If we need all those info., we can look them up.

Isn't Longhorn suppose to be a stripped down version of what it was intended to be on its inital release? If so, then I'm waiting for all the add-ons in later Longhorn release. WinFS I heard is scraped for Longhorn, and a partial installment of the Avalon graphic subsystem and Indigo's web service and communications architecture.
