Logitech Keyboard Trouble

Hey everyone. This is my first post here. Sorry to just sign up and start asking for help right away. Anyways, I have this Logitech keyboard that I recently got from my friend Jesse. He got a newer keyboard and gave me this one. Here is a link to the type that it is: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006FRUI/ref=pd_sxp_elt_l1/002-4355069-1576812
When I hook it up to my computer nothing happens. I mean nothing. I can't type, and none of the lights show up on the keyboard. I put it in all of my USB ports and still nothing. When I check the keyboard in the Control Panel it says that the keyboard that I am currently using is in the keyboard port. Would this mean that I need an adapter for the Logitech one? By the way I'm using a Dell Demension 2400. It's only about a year or two old, with Windows XP Sp2. I don't really know what I should be doing here and if someone could help me out that'd be great. Thanks.
