Locked out of volume properties.

Ok, mate has asked me to get drivers for sound, so I have. I installed them, rebooted and no sound came out speakers. So I went to volume properties and its like im locked out of it, its grayed out. The volume icon is not showing in system tray either. Its XP Pro, but I think the installation is a illegal copy, because he had it fixed by someone dodgy. So how can I get round this or should I reinstall windows HOME (got legal product key for it)

If the volume isn grayed out, are you sure he drivers you installed are working. I would probably check the control panel to make sure the drivers are working properly. The driver may not be working.

No, coz it was doing it before hand, and evan if drivers arent installed you can go into the properties.

Sorted it now anyhows.
