Default Linux or Windows?

I was thinking of getting Linux could soemone tell me the Differences ? Wether It's better. I know you can tweak it alot I like that. And is it free?

Linux is a FREE, open-source OS. It can literally run for years without crashing, is way more secure and safer than Windows. The only thing that prevents it from gaining the OS crown is its ease of use and simplicity.

yea.. in other words stick with windows, unless you want to go through the process of building a spacecraft just to install a program -.-

Yeah, a program that is 10x better than Windows.

EDIT>>> And becides, you can just DL it from another comp and burn it on a cd. Then just install it at the beginning. Or you can buy the different "flavors" (basically different manufacturers) for like 1/3 of Window's price.

Although I hear that Linux is easier to hack and is Linux related to Unix? What is Unix?

Linux I heard is an off-shoot of Unix. But I'm not too sure.

I like Windows more because it is easier to use and has better compatibility. It isn't more stable, but it is pretty good.
