Which Linux distro?

Here is the link to the install of Puppy linux on your hdd. It seems pretty straight forward and I would bet that there is an install icon on the desktop of the livecd, for ease.

Cheers!

Ubuntu, Fedora, or OpenSUSE if you're just learning. Slackware if you're willing to go a little deeper; it pays off, really can optimize to WAY better performance for your system - but definitely a bit more complicated

Not sure on specs, but I believe Kubuntu (based on KDE?) is the closest thing to windows if you are just learning. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but again, I don't know the specs. Otherwise Puppy or DSL will work fine. I think they can both run from a flash drive as well...

Glad to help! I think you can partition so you still have usable space, though, so you might still be able to use readyboost?!?! Two birds with one stone ya know....
