Its easier to install then windows.

Don't format the hd with partition magic just give it enough space to install (4GB should be plenty but i recommend more).

The Linspire cd should do the rest.

btw, no matter what you hear or read on the linspire site or linspire forums or from anyone. DO NOT RUN AS ROOT

Create a user account straight away, give them sudo priv's and NEVER login as Root ever again.

I cannot stress that enough, u might as well be using windows. It'd be almost as secure as using linux with root account.

The XP CD does that

Haha... maybe you should use Root Account if its almost as secure as Windows. You might just get a reasonable amount of Security.

A reasonable amount of security is impossible on Windows.

That's very true as no one has yet aimed any spyware or viruses at linux, just think of the amount that windows has had

Haha; I've gone over 10 years now, half of Window's life, without a Virus or anything unfixable. Spyware is always secure and doesn't get out of hand; Windows Firewall does what its supposed to do fine, and needs no second-hand software to waste resources.

Windows is perfectly safe if you're perfectly safe; when you go on Hacker Websites, Download Porn, Download Serial Keys without precautions, Install low-brow Open-Source Programs or Compilers... its only too obvious what's going to happen.

That's a very good point... a point which has been made many times and the point of course being that Linux has not spyware and few viruses pointed at it - Windows has dozens every week - Linux is not completely secure and it should be under those conditions. Windows would. That is why Windows is more secure than Linux.

You don't compare two armies - one fighting themselves and winning, the other fighting every malcontent in the world, a number of plain idiots, a good number of geniuses who make money from it and the incompetence of most of the users and doing very well; certainly not falling back sometimes moving forward - and say the first is a superior army better purely because they're winning without problems.
