Default LimeWire Problem

I asked this in the Limewire Forums a while back, never got an answer.

I've been using Limewire 4.16.6 for a while w/o a problem, but recently it started trying to load TLS encryption (which is not part of the program), and LW just freezes. I try to close it; I get the shutdown dialog, but it stays on-screen until I reboot.

Any ideas?

Try deleting Limewire off your system and re-installing it.

Thanks, but I found the culprit. I happen to be looking thru the options, and I found that it does indeed have a TLS capability, so I turned it off.

I've never gotten a virus thru LimeWire. Of course I only use it to download audio and video, not actual programs.

Also, they warn about this on their site:

Quote:
Please be very careful when downloading files with a .exe suffix, since these files can contain a virus or spyware. For security reasons, LimeWire will not download VBS files. LimeWire's Library will not launch .exe, .vbs, .lnk, .bat, .sys, or .com files, although such files can be launched with a program outside of LimeWire. We do recommend the use some sort of virus-protection software to scan any files that are downloaded.
