LG N1A1DD1 NAS Drive

Has anyone had any experience with this drive? It seems to get fairly good reviews.
My concern is that if the internal drive fails after the warranty period I would be screwed unless I can somehow image the drive.
So my question is, has anyone ever tried to image this drive successfully and test the image?

If a successful image is possible then after the warranty I could just replace the drive and drop the image in.

I guess this question is not solely dependent on this drive. The same would also hold for any prebuilt NAS.
