ok, so when i bought my computer, i didnt get a windows cd, but i have a product key on the sticker thing on the side of my comp. when my windows got messed up, i borrowed a friend's cd, and used my original cd key. is this legal? if not, i will go out and buy a version of windows this week.

Frankly if your using a CD key for XP in the same house on the same network I don't see a problem with it. I see no need to buy 4 different OSese for 4 different Pcs in the house.

Im sure when you buy Windows you're really playing for that CD key, you cant run windows without it.
So long as you're using the key you got with the comp im pretty sure everythings good no matter what CD you used to install it with.

in a way yes, cuz you are still using your own CD key. And you can only ahve 1 CD key per PC.

lol....yeah, all you are buying is the license to use xp, heck you can download the cd off any p2p network and use it as long as you have a legal cd key.
