Question leds for a servers status

Hello. I am sure this is possible but I haven't found anything for it yet. I have a laptop that has a dead back light on the screen but a decent battery. I took off the monitor and just control it via VNC. What I would like to do is be able to use leds on the parallel port to show the battery level. If any of you could suggest a program or write a script for me I would appreciate it.
The laptop runs win2k just for reference. I'm going to use the laptop as my new mail and/or http server.
