Anyways, my backlight went out. I found out that it was the backlight not the inverter with a multi-meter and went ahead and bought a backlight. Anyways, long story short, it didn't work out. (I stepped on the LCD RIGHT when it was fixed and i was putting it back together!)
I found an old laptop of mine (Omnibook 6000; Info Here --> http://www.ima.umn.edu/~arnold/omnibook/specs.pdf
) and decided to try to swap out the LCD screens. Probably not a good idea because I didn't check for compatibility and it was just an impulse.
So it turned out not to be a good idea; I tried connected the screen from the omnibook to the inverter on the Extensa but some connections weren't compatible, so I tried to switch the inverter from my Omnibook to the Extensa.
As soon as I tried to connect the inverter(from the omnibook) to the extensa it immediately started to produce a small flame.. 0.0
So I took it off (it was only connected for a split second).. Now the Acer Extensa won't even turn on at ALL! It used to be it would turn on just without the LCD, but now it's just completely dead..
Next, I connected the inverter and the LCD screen back into the omnibook and the screen was completely dark! (It turned on, but the screen was really dark. -I think the inverter is damaged; It's still transferring data- I can see windows sign in page really dimly if I put it to a strong light).
Anyways, I could care less about the omnibook, but I really want to get that ACER fixed. I was planning to get a new LCD, but now since it's not even turning on, I don't know if it'll work.
PLEASE HELP! I want to fix the Extensa but I don't know the next step..
