hi can you help me choose what laptop is good for me.

im a first year programming student, my budget is around 1300-1400$ and im planning to use this for at least 3-4 years hope this doesnt get outdated right away. i was hoping to play some games and some Fruityloops once in a while. what do you guys think i should buy.

i came up with this links.

Newegg.com - ASUS A8 Series A8JP-4S029M NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T7200(2.00GHz) 14" Wide XGA+ 1GB DDR2 667 120GB 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 - Retail

MSI MS-171772 Notebook Computer, 17" WSXGA+, DVD/RW: R&J Technology

oh yeah, what are the pros and cons of 17" laptops. is 15" a good choice?

thank you in advance

I dont really like a big 17". A 14.1 is a perfect size. Its portable. A 15" is ok...but 14.1 is my favorite. Those are some good computers but if you could get them to put 2G of RAM that would be awsome

Its down to personal preference. Some people use a laptop because its portable and easy to carry round, so smaller is better. Other people use laptops as a desktop replacement to save space, so bigger screen is better.

For me, I don't mind having a 17", but I'm rather looking for a 15.4 or in between.

Since the one on Newegg seems more detailed, I'll pick this one, if I was you.
