Default Laptop mouse

Whenever I touch it, the pointer jerks around and if I tap to click, it doesnt work. Is there a possibility it is overused? 2 yr old laptop.

are you talking about the touch screen pad on the laptop or do you have some wired or wireless mouse hooked up to it.
