so i just got a gateway c-140x table pc for college

specs:
T7300 2.0 ghz cpu
80 gb 5400 rpm hd
1 gb 2x512 ddr2 667 ram
vista home premium 32 bit and xp pro dual boot

I am thinking about upgrading the ram, i mean i dont REALLY need more ram right now, but then again i have not started working on it too much yet.

so here is the question, do i order a 2 gb stick, and keep one 512 mb stick to get a total of 2.5 gb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208323

OR do i save $20 and get a 2x 1 gb sticks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231116

btw some buyer claims that the transcend ram has the micron chip, which also i have heard is super, however i have no experience with either transcend or g.skill.

i will be buying tonight or tomorrow so let me know what you think, thanks.

may want to be positive the board in that laptop will support a 2 gig stick in one slot. I generally like to stick with matched ram so i would go with the 2 1 gig sticks.

im pretty sure it supports 4 gb because the vendor had that as a choice for an upgrade during the purchasing process.

but i will use the 2.5 gb if i had them, i mean im running vista, need i say more...no really though my main work will be in photoshop which eats ram.
