Laptop cant recognize SD over 1gb?

I have a Compaq R3340US (2004), and it simply will not read SD cards 1GB and up.. What the hell is going on???

Is there a way i can update the driver for just the card reader? Ive looked all over and cannot find any solutions ;(

When in My Computer, the SD card icon displays. You click on it, and it will say "Insert disc into drive K". Ive tried uninstalling the drivers for the SD cards themselves multiple times.

ARGH Anyone delt with this before and can offer some advice?

Since HP owns Compaq, and they're pretty much the same, it may affect your model as well. Note: this link came up in Google, when I search for "SD card reader problems over 1GB"

Yes that thread definatelyhelped.

If anyone else has this problem, dont waste a few hours sifting through all the babble and false links.

I have a compaq presario R3340US and i installed this patch for tablet PC's:

And i FINALLY have my 1gb SD card working!!
