Also does anyone know of anyhting better than these 3 in this price range?

And should I get Vista on it or switch to XP if possible?

Its for my sister and will be used mainly for school work ie microsoft office.

The one in the third link is definitely better. I like the extra RAM and the larger hard drive. It looks like it comes with Windows Vista already, but it's the Basic Edition. No need to go with Windows XP.

the first one is the best
and no vista is a great os you will be fine with it
i wouldnt get the third is not a dual core

thanks guys but Ive heard vista is rubbish and uses too much ram and xp is better is this true?

Yes, it's partly true. With the Vista Basic Edition, you don't need that much RAM to run it because it's stripped of all the Aero features found in the Home Premium Edition. But with more RAM, it should run smoother and load faster which is why I picked the laptop in the last link.

appreciate the input but each one of you guys has recommended a different laptop! still confused

The reason i think the second one is i think it is the best!
And i use that exact same model for my work laptop but it has vita buisness!

Yea the first one is better. You should get xp. There is no use for Vista if your hardly going to use it.

The reason why I picked the third one is because she's only using it for basic stuff like school, movies, maybe some light gaming if she wants to, music, Internet, etc. It has tons of storage space and 2GB of RAM. I'll take more RAM in that case. For the money, it's pretty good. Plus, it has a 5-1 memory card reader for those portable flash drives now (SD, MMC, etc.). I don't know if that first laptop has it.
