Default Keyboard Modding

I'm bored waiting for detassling season to start, so I think, what can I do that is techy and cheap/free?

Hmmm keyboard mods?

An old Compaq keyboard

Some scrabble letters

And screwdrivers

Should be some fun, right?

Updates as I progress.

Arg really choppy internet connection, intermittent upload fails. Keyboard pics soon I hope.

If not, I'll continue working and post up pics tomorrow or so.

Edit- Should this be in gallery? Please move if so...

Haha. I'll die when I see this. Put some LED backlights in it too, and have the scroll lock key control them.

lol, cool idea. It's probably not going to be very ergonomic, or practical, but very fun

Not sure how to remap keys like that.

Is it a hardware of software thing?

Hardware. Just tie the positive and negative leads for the LED's into the leads for the scroll lock key on the PCB.

Do the same as him, just put 6 or so coloured LED's in the corners of the keyboard and one top center and one bottom center.

okay
that link was just wow
and here i was thinking that it would be something like the Merc Stealth Illuminated Keyboard
but oh well
its still illuminated
the only bad thing would be if you had a keyboard drawer which slid the keyboard under the desk and out of the way
then that mod wouldnt work
ill be watching this one
