so i am going to get a new mobo, and thinking of going with Sii or Crossfire.
i was wondering if its even worth it to go out and buy another X1950 for about $50-70 on ebay, to make it Crossfire, or should i just get the 9600GT alone?
if i get a mobo with 2 PCI 2.0 slot, do they both work with Crossfire and Sli, or is it only one or the other? the mobo i saw on newegg doesnt specify which one it supports
by the way, when looking for another x1950, do i need to find another x1950GT? or can i get a x1950Pro, and crossfire it with my x1950GT?
thanks in advance

No, it is not worth buying another card. If you look at these charts: http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=726&model2=1060&chart=318 You can see that the X1950 GT is already a long way behind the HD 3870 (which offers around the same performance as the 9600GT) This is a good buy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814134040 as well as this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161218

The motherboard supports either Crossfire or SLI, not both. The 790X/FX supports ATI's new CrossfireX technology which allows you to pair up to four non-identical cards. Meaning, if you already have two 3850s, you can add a 3870, which I think is pretty neat. SLI can't do anything like that. Also there is AMD's new 780G chipset, which contains the most powerful intergrated graphics chip by far (a HD 3200). And it also allows for hybrid Crossfire, which means you that if you add a discrete graphics card from the HD 3000 series, it can do Crossfire with the integrated graphics chip doubling the performance.

what kind of gaming are you laning on doing? i think the crossfire, but i don't work with radeon so im not sure on this one but it sounds much better.

A single 9600GT or HD 3870 will provide better performance than two X1950 GTs. And you'd have to buy a new motherboard if you wanted to do Crossfire.

wow then yeah, try a 8800 gt you can find one for the prve of a 9600 GT is a low end and you should get better performance of the 8 series then that one (im not completely sure but i think it would be)

8800gt are getting very cheap now that nvidia are releasing there 9 series
i would look into one of those
