Lol. 1, the game we're making has a butt load of graphics and its going to be an MMORPG. MASSIVE Multiplayer online role playing game. Secondly, have you ever programmed before? You don't learn it in months. You may learn the commands and whatnot. But you don't learn how to best apply them.

You're wrong. If he wants to learn how to program effectively, he would be better off with a duo-core. That way he saves money. Once he's ready for real programming, assuming it's going to be a big project such as a MMORPG or w/e, he can get the newer technology that will probably be octo-core.
What I mean by that is it would compile faster than at a duo-core. I'm sure he doesn't want to wait 2 hours for his game to compile.

Dual core is likely fast enough for just about anyone. Theirs a definite speed advantage to running a quad core in many situations, if you have the money I'd recommend it. Dual core vs quad core has nothing to do with skill or knowing what your doing.
