Default jpg's

When opening some web pages or emails why do some jpgs and gifs show a cross? How do you comabat this?

Because they aren't in the location that the code/text points the image to. For Outlook or other email clients, make sure that image blocking is turned off. For Webpages, it just means the image is missing, or you have your internet set to block unknown images.
