Default Javascript help

I apparently am having trouble with the javascript on my computer and was wondering if anyone could help me figure it out. No URL's work, and any link that displays the small javascript message in the bottom of the screen don't work. Can someone help me out?

click Tools on the menu bar in IE -> click Internet Options -> Security tab -> click Internet icon -> click Custom Level... -> scroll through the settings until you find the header Scripting -> enable Active Scripting

Sadly, it's been on enable while all this has been going on. I have a suspicious feeling that this has something to do with my computer's recent slowness also.

Spyware could do that to my computer? I had no idea. I have Spybot, btw.

spyware slows down your computer so removing spyware could help the speed. its a good idea to have both spybot and ad-aware, as they each find some things the other doesn't
