Default Ipod Encoding

Hey guys.

I have a Video TS file, with like 4 parts that I want to put on my Ipod but I dont know how to encode it to the right format.

Also I have a .avi file I want to do too, but everytime I open it with VLC it says "it might be broken, would you like to fix?' And I am just like "no" and it works fine.

any help?
