how do you find the ip address and name of a networked device from another computer

easiest thing would be to go into your router and view it's dchp settings. Usually it lists what device has what IP on the settings page.

That'll only show the router IP, and his.

But if the router is only showing your IP, then It's not handing out any others, which means it sees no other devices.

well am sorry to say but this is illegle right? to get ip address on another pc?

why would he be trying to get the other pc ip? why cant he not go on the other one and get its ip the way you would as cmd/ipconfig

why can't you access this? are you on a wireless trying to cap the connection?
