internet explorer cannot find broadband connection

hi, I've got a broadband connection and has been working fine until this weekend (1 may 2004)
after connecting to the broadband successfully, the IE is still not able to detect the connection.
The win xp suddenly slow down n reboots itself.
Do you think my pc is infected with the latest virus sasser?
now I cannot dial into the internet at all, so I cannot download the latest patches from microsoft. The cpu usage somehow increases tremendously though there are no pgm running.

any advise ???
