i got a laptop which has 160gb hardrive.i would like to upgrade it to possibly to 500gb.
To do this procedure do i only need my laptop driver cd and windows cd?if i do this how could i partition it into 2 drives so one can be c drive and the other can be recovery drive?i hope you can help. Thanks

When you install the new drive and run the Windows installation disk, it will ask you at some point where you wanna install the OS. It is there where you can delete/create partitions. So all you'd have to do is make 2 partitions ( Partition C:\ FOR WINDOWS + Partition D:\ FOR YOUR BACK UP).

Yes, but note that this is not how you create a recovery partition.

To create the recovery partition, you have to install the OS using the CD that came with the system. To be honest, recovery partitions aren't quite worth the trouble if you're at all savvy with a computer - just use the extra space to store your stuff since you have the CD handy anyway.

If your CD is a "recovery CD" it'll do what you're asking automatically.

If your CD is a "windows installation CD" it'll just install Windows and you don't need the recovery partition.

Either way, it depends on the CD and you need not worry about it.
