actually i wont be building the computer it is all assembled from factory- i will just upgrade the ram and graphics card. but what ones better? quad core?

Quad core is only worth it if you do a lot of video/audio encoding and editing. If it's for gaming then you would be better off with a dual core. Something like the E8200.

I agree, the Gigabyte boards are very good for overclocking. I would also like to add the ASUS P5K to that list.
