INTEL P4 3.0 GHZ or AMD 64 2800+????

OMG, yes you do! Get a GigaByte or MSI nForce4 MOBO with PCIe when you do, and an AMD64 3500+ 939Pin with 90nm technology (Winchester Core). And then get an ATi x800Pro PCIe or better, or an nVidia 6600GT or better.

The Winchester is based on 90nm technology, while the Newcastle core is 130nm. You can OVerclock the Winchester LIKE CRAZY!!! And also, it uses less power as well. Also, it produces half the heat as the newcastle core does... YEHA!!

so i guess my systems getting a bit outdated too lol, Ahh well, I have more important things to spend my money on, plus I don't have money to be upgrading PC's, just building a new one's cheaper.
AMD 2700+ @ 2.17 Ghz
GA-7VT600 socket A
512MB Corsair PC3200
ATI Radeon 9500 (latest Cat. Drivers)
HDD1: Maxtor 80GB 7,200 rpm
HDD2: Seagate ST340823A 40GB 7,200 rpm
Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1502
TEAC CD-W583
Windows XP Pro SP2
Its getting on in its old age.. god bless the switch on the mobo that takes it from 1.31Ghz to 2.17Ghz... that was much needed I can tell you.

lol yer god bless socket A! i have a 2600+ :< though which is it to be though lga 775 or amd 64 i cant decide cos i love that new aa8 by fatal1ty lol (i like branded things lol)

I would go 100% with the AMD one. better processor, more ram, amazingly better video card. Also it'll save you money in the long run because you wont have to go through the hassle of changing mobo's and cpu when you really get into games like me.. :(

I like the amd proccessors because they are really good but i would also take in mind the price because some processors are not cheap
