Intel HD or Dedicated Video Card?

Hey guys, I'm getting a new laptop soon and I'm looking closely at the specs, especially the video cards.

I've noticed that the cheap laptops use Intel HD 3000 while the more expensive ones use Dedicated Video Cards from ATI or Nvidia.

I've read other forums and people say that Intel HD sucks while some people say that they're able to play games with it.

That doesn't necessarily apply to me because I want to turn my laptop into a multimedia machine instead of gaming. I have a PS3 for that.

I do 15-30 minutes of YouTube in HD and 1-2 TV Episodes in HD on Hulu Plus each day on my current laptop and playing it in HD gives it lag sometimes (it has a ATI Radeon HD 3200 card) and I'm wondering whether the Intel HD is good enough or I'd need a real video card.

So are Video Cards just for Gaming, or does it apply to actual Videos also?

Nah it definetly applies to videos too. Not sure how the Intel HD is on HD videos cant comment on that, but a dedicated card would be better for multimedia and gaming.
