Default intel core i7 920 memory type

on this website it shows compatible memory types at

Memory Types DDR3-800/1066

http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=37147

Should I go with a 1066 DDR3 ram or would 1600 be overkill? any help?

Well, your motherboard supports 1600. TBH, you should proberbly ask somone who actually has a Core i7 processor.

Have a look at: http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/15967/1
