installing printer

After formatting my computer after a virus, I am trying to install my printer agian. Its a pretty old printer Hewlett Packard 'Deskjet 691C to be precise. Anyway, when i try and install the files with the CD, it says windows XP doesnt accept my printer or something like that?
What do I do now? do i need to download something or whats the next step?

Go to Settings and select Printers the select the Add Printer icon and follow the Wizard.

if you wizard doesn't pickup your printer then get back to me.
