Default Installing Operating system

I'm thinking about installing Xubuntu to my 2nd hard drive that is used for files only, no operating system. Will this effect my primary? Will files be lost?

Thanks

No, it will not interfere with your Windows XP. You need to partition some space on the hdd that you want Ubuntu on. If you need help here is a helpful link http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_w...rst.htm?page=1 Or just google it.
