Default installing my cpu fan...

ok my mobo has a 4 pin connector and my fan has three what do i do in this case

Mobo is a asus crosshair
Fan is Zalman 9700

does the Zalman box say it's compatible with the type of processor you have? I just installed a Zalman 9700nt on my Asus P5N-E SLI with no problem and I know the Zalman packaging says what cpus it's compatible with.

You install the plug on the first three pins as shown in the manual. The fourth pin is for adjusting the fan RPM if so equipped.

4-pin plugs are backwards compatible with 3-pin plugs, you just have one left over pin.
