Installing a Hard Drive

I'm getting a hard drive in a couple days, but i wanna know how to install it. Im gonna take my old one out before i put the new one in and i wanna know if all i have to do is put the XP cd in or not. And also, do u guys have any suggestions on the order of installing things back on the hard drive.

if you take the old one out you wil have to re install xp. you might want to put a partition in it. is your old one fried?

no, gateway just sent a replacement cuz it made some noise

Just put the new hard drive in and put your Gateway Restore CD in.

Oh, on the install. OPen up the case and see how the existing hard drive is connected. Just take out the screws on the sides and pull the data and power cable off so the HDD can come out. Reverse that with the new drive with the Restore CD.
